Ring in the Lunar New Year of the Rat with exciting live performances, delicious traditional bites, or the opening of a brand new ancient China exhibit at the Blackhawk Museum. Several celebrations featuring dancing lions, martial arts, Chinese cuisine, and Asian arts & crafts are happening throughout the Tri-Valley to honor this festive holiday. Blackhawk Museum's "Into China" Gallery Opening

This long awaited event has been years in the making. “Into China”, Blackhawk Museum’s newest gallery, features a sprawling 25-foot miniature model of the Forbidden City, several Terracotta Warrior replications, various handmade relics, and an exact replica of the Dragon Throne. This free event features traditional Chinese performances held outside the museum, and includes admission the entire museum. 

WHEN: SATURDAY, JANUARY 25TH, 11AM - 2PM

Bankhead Theater's Lunar New Year Celebration

Bankhead Theater’s Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, January 25th will include traditional Chinese dances, cultural demonstrations, as well as food and crafts. In addition to the colorful and dramatic lion dance, one of the most familiar Chinese New Year traditions, a festive Community Altar will provide an opportunity to offer gifts such as fruit, flowers or money for good tidings of health and prosperity in the coming year.

LumiNight Lantern Festival

Debuting in the Tri-Valley for the first year ever, LumiNight Lantern Festival brings to life 8 acres of fairgrounds and transforms it into a walking safari that includes the Great Barrier Reef, a Land of Dinosaurs, Noah’s Ark, and more!
