St. Patrick’s Day in the Tri-Valley

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and given the Tri-Valley’s rich Irish history and community, it’s the perfect place to get into shenanigans!  We picked out the best St. Patrick’s Day happenings on this side of the rainbow; whether you’re ready for a brew crawl, live music and activities at a Livermore Valley winery or you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, we’ve got you covered.

Wineries

Crooked Vine Stony Ridge Winery March 17th 12pm – 4pm

Join the folks at Crooked Vine for a day of live music by Dave Land, and delicious BBQ plates available for purchase from Quesquared Barbeque.

McKahn Family Cellars March 17th 12pm – 5pm

Celebrate with McKahn Family Cellars with $15 tasting flights and special discounts on wine purchases!
Cost: Free 

 

McGrail Vineyards & Winery March 17th 12pm – 4:30pm

Live music by Susan Lukito will play outside for any picnickers and tasters in attendance at this Irish heritage celebration. McGrail wines will be available for tasting or for purchase by the glass or bottle.

Rios-Lovell Winery March 17th 1pm – 4pm

Enjoy a home-made Irish menu including traditional corned beef and cabbage, Irish Cheddar cheeses, Irish soda bread, and spinach dip! In addition to the great grub, this winery is also offering special discounts on wine! make sure to RSVP by March 15th to jacob@rioslovellwinery.com.

Concannon Founders Weekend March 18th 11AM – 4:30PM

Celebrate Concannon’s 135th anniversary along with the Irish heritage of this winery’s founder, James Concannon. Special discounts will be offered while exclusive flights will be served featuring new release wines. Those who attend can purchase an “Irish Ploughman’s Cheese Board & Wine Pairing” featuring traditional Irish cheese, meats and soda bread. At 1PM, rock out to some customary pub songs and Irish music by Western Shore Irish Band.
Cost: Event is Free. $15 flights, Cheese Board & Pairing: $40 (Visitors) $35 (Members)

Bars/Breweries

Eight Bridges March 17th 12PM – 9PM 

This Livermore Brewery is hosting live Irish music by Pog Mo Thoin between 5:30 – 8:30pm, and Your Taco Guy! food truck will be on-site for patrons to get their grub on. Check out this local spot for green beer and great company.
Cost: Free 

Norm’s Place March 16th 3PM – 10PM

Norm’s Place is celebrating their 14th Annual St. Patricks’ Day Party! Last year’s event included bag pipe performances, drink specials, green beer and live music. Stay tuned on Norm’s Place Facebook for more updates for this event.

Three Sheets Bar March 17th 9AM

This Dublin tap house will be opening early to pour green beer for those watching the Dublin Lions Club Parade that day. Patio seats are available for patrons, but management warns that they go fast, so get there early to secure your spot.

McGah’s St’ Patty’s Slam Dunk March 17th 11PM – 1:30PM

This St. Patricks’ Day celebration goes hand in hand with the NCAA championship. Irish coffees and corned beef cabbage will be served starting at 11am, outdoor bar, games, and live music will begin around noon, followed by a traditional bagpipe performance. Stop in from 2pm-6p for some adult snow cones, and a photo booth!

Local Events 

Green & White Gala March 16th 6PM – 11:30PM

This elegant event will begin with a no host Irish Happy Hour at 6pm and will be followed by a buffet dinner at 7pm. Guests are free to dance the night away until 11:30pm. The deadline to purchase tickets is March 9th, so don’t miss out!
Cost: $75, includes 2 drink tickets

Alameda County Firefighters Pancake Breakfast March 17th 7AM-10AM

Located at the Shannon Community Center, this breakfast will be prepared by Alameda County’s own firefights from Local 55. All proceeds directly support charitable efforts funded by Local 55. Before you find a spot for the parade, stop in here for a hot breakfast!
Cost: $5 per person

Dublin Lions Club Parade March 17th 9:30AM

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin is sure to draw crowds. This parade starts on Amador Plaza Rd facing Dublin Boulevard, loops up Village Parkway and continues on Amador  Valley Boulevard before ending on Donahue Drive. Bleacher seating will be available, and organizers suggest parking on Clark Avenue.

St. Patrick’s Day Festival  March 17th & 18th 10AM-5AM

The Dublin Civic Center hosts this massive St. Patrick’s Day celebration, including three stages of live music, authentic Irish food and drink stands, over 250 booths of genuine Celtic artwork and crafts, carnival rides for all ages, and even an Irish tea cottage, stocked with fine china, scones, and live music.

Shamrock 5k Fun Run & Walk March 18th 8:30AM

Over 2,000 lucky participants will attend this year’s Shamrock 5K Fun Run & Walk. Cross the finish line to find refreshments and entertainment and prize drawings. Special discounts are offered for non-timed runners, families, and corporate groups. Be sure to register for this race before March 10th!
