Top 50 Restaurants in the Bay Area

San Francisco has held its ranking as one of the top food capitals of the world for years, but The Mercury News has some food for thought for those seeking out top-notch eats: you don’t have to head all the way into San Francisco to find unique and delicious dining. Several Tri-Valley restaurants made an appearance on The Mercury News’ list of 50 Top Restaurants in the Bay Area – check out which ones made the cut here.

Vineyard Table & Tasting Lounge

Livermore, CA

While this well-known eatery located on Wente Vineyards’ property off of Arroyo Road recently shed its white tablecloths for a more laid-back ensemble, its forte for fine dining was not lost in the process. Drawing on resources like its cattle program and on-site organic garden, the Vineyard Table & Tasting Lounge menu is made up of sharable plates, large and small, that pair perfectly with its award-winning selection of wines.

Sabio on Main

Pleasanton, CA

Located in the heart of Downtown Pleasanton, Sabio on Main stands out as a local pioneer in elevated farm-to-table cuisine with a flare for local California flavors. As one of only 50 restaurants to receive the prestigious 6 Link award from Good Food 100 for sourcing locally, and proudly sporting a Gold rating by EatREEL for using natural and healthy ingredients, each dish on their menu is not only delicious but good for you and the environment. Visit during lunch for a high-end BBQ experience or start your weekend mornings off with their boozy brunch menu; you won’t be disappointed if you swing by for their dinner or generous happy hour either!

Salt Craft

PLEASANTON, CA

This Downtown Pleasanton restaurant opened it’s doors in 2018, but not so you could come inside. Holding it’s own amongst several long-standing restaurants that line Downtown Pleasanton’s charming Main Street, this outside-only eatery is no stranger to the limelight. In their quest to find the best sandwiches in the Bay Area, Diablo Magazine presented Salt Craft a Gold Medal for their signature Chef’s Lamb Pastrami Sandwich on Coffee Rye (pictured above). Known locally for their house-made breads baked fresh daily and their mouth-watering cinnamon rolls served each weekend, it’s no wonder Mercury News caught wind of this delicious hotspot.
