Theater buffs pay homage to the “father of American drama” at the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site.
Tap into the region’s literary history with a visit to the gorgeous Tao House, the onetime home of America’s only Nobel Prize–winning playwright, Eugene O’Neill, who penned The Iceman Cometh and Long Day’s Journey Into Night from his house atop Danville’s western hills. In September of each year, the Eugene O’Neill Festival stages plays from the “father of the American drama” and others at the Old Barn theater, a stone’s throw from the house. Visitors can tour Tao House five days a week by boarding a free shuttle to the property from the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.
